A growing number of countries and world leaders are condemning Israel’s announcement that it will build 3,000 new homes in a West Bank settlement expansion. This follows last week’s vote at the United Nations General Assembly that gave Palestine non-member status. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called Israel’s move “an almost fatal blow” to the chances of a two-state solution. Israel also announced it will withhold $100 million in taxes collected for the Palestinian Authority and apply it to debt owed for electricity.
