PRESS ADVISORY–FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Green Party Candidate to File for Arlington County Board

Arlington, VA (June 9)–Josh Ruebner, Green Party candidate for Arlington County Board, will file papers to qualify for the November general election ballot on Monday, June 12, at 8:30AM at the Arlington County offices at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. in Arlington.

Members of the media are invited to assemble outside of the building at the Court House Plaza and accompany the candidate inside for a photo opportunity of the candidate filing his papers. Afterwards, Ruebner will hold a press conference outside of the Arlington County offices to discuss his campaign.

Ruebner’s campaign is focused on the issue of affordable housing in Arlington. Over the past five years, Arlington has lost more than half of its affordable housing units to luxury townhouses and McMansions. Over the past six years, homeowners’ have seen their real estate taxes grow by more than 100%.

According to Ruebner, “The Arlington County Board is responsible for the ongoing destruction of affordable housing and the increased tax burden of home owners in Arlington. Chris Zimmerman, as County Board Chair, needs to be challenged for promoting policies that are driving out of Arlington low- and moderate-income individuals and families and making our community a less diverse place.”
